If you are an analog photographer, you are all too well familiar with the statement Stay Broke Shoot Film. However, it doesn’t need to be the case. There still are places where you can buy film at an affordable price so here is where we buy our cheap film.
Important update: it seems like the site has stopped all activity. We recommend you don’t place orders there anymore.
A couple of weeks ago we stumbled upon the website www.BuyFilm.ca. It’s a fairly new website so we didn’t think much of it. However, my father is getting married in a couple of weeks and asked me if I wanted to take photographs for the event. Of course I said yes. Next thought was oh my this will cost me my whole payroll. So I decided to give the website a second look since I remembered how cheap the prices were.
Prices are so cheap, I hope this isn’t a scam. With Internet nowadays, there are so many websites that could scam you. Because of this, I feel like we are always on scam alert.
After going through the website, you can tell that the owner is trying to gain future customer’s trust by putting up a Testimonials Page. There is also an FAQ page that assures you that it is in fact a legitimate website.
All in all, I was 80% certain that I would see the products I paid for. So I decided why not try it. I ordered my 80$ worth of film, put in my information and pressed the confirm button.
Two minutes after I ordered my films I had an email from the shop confirming my order and double checking with me the information I filled in the form. That’s when I knew I had nothing to worry about. My Canada Post label was created within the hour of my order. I must say I was truly impressed.
I will definitely buy more film from this website. It’s cheap, fast and reliable. You can even make special orders in case you can’t find what you are looking for. Another great thing about this website is that they created Cheap film combos.
This means that you can get a combo of multiple cheap films for a small price.
If you love analog photography as much as us and would love to discover other artists, check out our favourite film photographers.
